The name
What does “Hāngī” mean?
A hāngī (say “HAH-ngee”) is the traditional Māori feast cooked in an earth oven — food laid over fire-heated stones, buried, and slow-cooked underground, then shared by the whole community. Everyone contributes, it cooks together, and the table is richer for it. That’s the spirit we built the app around.
Everyone brings something to the table.
It all comes together over the same fire.
The meal — and the making of it — is shared.
